CHENNAI: AG (Tamil Nadu) defeated AG (Karnataka) 3-1 in the team final of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (South Zone) table tennis tournament at the Office of Accountant General (A&E) here on Thursday.

K. Srivatsa Chakravarthy (AG, TN) clinched the men’s singles title while Lathika Poosalingam (AG, Karnataka) won the women’s singles title.

Shankar Narayan, IA & AS, Principal Accountant General (Civil Audit), Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, distributed the prizes.

DBAY shocks IB

Don Bosco Annai Youth (DBAY) shocked seasoned Indian Bank 1-0 on Thursday to enter the semifinals of the Young Challengers Football Club silver jubilee State-level tournament being held at Pattabhiram.

The all-important goal was scored by Sudhakar in the 69th minute.

Sports festival

The YMCA College of Physical Education will conduct the annual Buck Memorial sports festival for city schools and colleges in various events, including athletics, from August 18 to 21.

The pair of R. Balagurunathan and T.M. Ramani won the North-South direction in the Alumni Club monthly bridge tournament at the Club premises here on Wednesday.

V. Suryanarayana and Nirmal Kumar emerged triumphant in East-West direction while R. Krishnan and D. Vijay came runner-up.
