VISAKHAPATNAM: The Lance Cycling Academy, in association with the JCI Visakha Valley, will organise a State-level open cycling competition on the Beach Road here on Wednesday morning.

About 300 cyclists, including 50 from places like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Nizamabad, and Guntur, will participate in the meet.

Cash awards of Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs 5,000 will be given for the first three places in the 50km senior men’s event. Other events in which competitions will be held are 10km junior boys and senior women, 5km sub-junior boys and junior girls and 100m for under-5 boys and girls.

The competition will be held from the Kali Temple to the Alluri Sitaramaraju Statue on the Beach road.

Sriram hits century

M.U.B. Sriram scored his second consecutive century (137, 13x4) of the tournament and Ch. Praneeth Kumar helped himself to a ton (110, 8x4), while leg-spinner L.V. Chanakya claimed five wickets in Visakhapatnam’s innings and 76-run win over Vizianagaram in the ACA North Zone inter-district under-19 tournament here on Monday.

Srikakulam gained a narrow four-run first innings lead over East Godavari in the other match.

The scores: Vizianagaram 130 and 148 in 50.3 overs (B.Diwakar Rao 47, L.V. Chanakya five for 78) lost to Visakhapatnam 354 for five decl. In 87 overs (M.U.B. Sriram 137, Ch. Praneeth Kumar 110, Ch. Rajesh Yadav 45). Visakhapatnam 6 points.
