New Delhi: Nischal Gaur struck an impressive half-century (56, 4x4s, 2x6s) to guide Malviya Club to a one-wicket victory over Vidya Jain Academy in the first Lala Girdhari Lal Twenty20 cricket tournament at the Bharat Nagar ground here on Wednesday.
Vidya Jain Academy banked on Sanjay’s 48 and Sumit Rana’s 35 to reach 151 all out in 20 overs. Kapil Rana (three for 22) and Vineet (two for 11) were the main wicket-takers for Malviya Club.
Gaur’s useful knock then helped Malviya win the match with four balls to spare. Arun Singh scalped four batsmen, while Sparsh Jain and Amardeep Sonkar claimed two each for the losing side.
In another match, L.B. Shastri Club posted a two-wicket win over Gush Club.
The scores: Vidya Jain Academy 151 in 20 overs (Sanjay 48) lost to Malviya Club 152 for nine in 19.2 overs (Nischal Gaur 56, Arun Singh four for 16); Gush Club 86 in 19 overs lost to L.B. Shastri Club 90 for eight in 17 overs.
