Bangalore: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s skipper Rahul Dravid admitted that his team is in a “backs to the wall situation” but expressed belief that his team had the ability to bounce back.
“The last two matches were close and we were not outclassed. It is just that we haven’t clicked in terms of preventing that one or two big overs when the other team is batting. Conversely, when we are batting we need to get that one big over to crack open a game. It would be terrific if we can fight back. There is depth in this team.
“It is a matter of getting that one victory and getting our confidence back and hopefully we will do that against the Deccan Chargers on Saturday,” Dravid said in a pre-match press conference here on Friday evening.
Dravid said that Anil Kumble, who has recovered from a groin injury, will play Saturday’s match. “His presence will strengthen the bowling attack. Anil will play in place of Sunil Joshi and we are also looking at playing either Bharath Chipli or Arun Kumar. Ross Taylor has gone and in his place we have the option of playing Misbah Ul Haq, Cameron White or Shivnarine Chanderpaul,” Dravid said.
Dravid said “Virat Kohli is a good prospect and we cannot judge him so early based on a few performances in Twenty20. In fact, Kohli can also play the role that Taylor did for us,” Dravid said.
On Deccan Chargers, Dravid said: “It is a good team and they have a few players who can crack open a match. It is all about executing our plans well.”
