Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association proposes to conduct a State-level games meet in 14 different disciplines on the lines of the National Games in November or December this year, according to Mr. L. Rajagopal, MP and President of APOA, who addressed a press conference here on Saturday.

L. Venkatram Reddy, General Secretary, APOA, and B.K. Haranath, Media Manager, APOA, were also present.

Rajagopal also briefed the media about his experiences at Melbourne, where he had gone to study the conduct of the Commonwealth Games. He lauded the large-scale involvement of the public in the games as well as the excellent facilities, and felt that these concepts should be duplicated whenever meets are held in India.

Rajagopal is a member of the Organising Committee for the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be hosted in New Delhi.

APOA has been making an effort to broad base sports activity and culture. APOA held its EC meetings in eight district headquarters in one year to become the only Olympic body to do so. It has also organised the meetings of District Sports Associations and PETs there. Special Correspondent
