HYDERABAD: S. Anirudha's century (102, 90 balls, 2x6, 8x4) was the highlight for Tamil Nadu in its drawn match against Hyderabad in the South Zone P. Ramachandra Rao Trophy (under-22) cricket tournament at the Gymkhana Grounds here on Friday.

Earlier, resuming at its overnight score of 182 for seven, Hyderabad grabbed the vital first innings lead scoring 242.

Anirudha, son of former India captain K. Srikkanth, was in his element after being dropped early in the innings by wicketkeeper Habib Ahmed, who also missed a simple stumping chance later.

The free-stroking Anirudha was impressive against the slow bowlers.

The six over long-off off Niranjan was the pick of strokes from Anirudha as Tamil Nadu finished the second innings at 183 for four in 44 overs when play was called off, 30 minutes after tea break.

Hyderabad now has seven points from two matches.

The third round will commence on October 23.

The scores: At Gymkhana:

Tamil Nadu 194 & 183 for four in 44 overs (S. Anirudha 102) drew with Hyderabad 242 in 115.3 overs (Mohd. Shakeer 70, Naresh four for 88, Ashwin four for 84).

At Uppal:

Kerala 305 in 122.1 overs & 78 for one (Abhishek Hegde 51 not out) drew with Andhra 169 in 102.1 overs (M. Shashavali 50, J.T. Yadav 49, S. Aneesh four for 52).
