JAIPUR: Angad Cheema, the only golfer to play a sub-par first round, scored a four-under 66 to grab the lead in the LG Rambagh Golf Club Open Amateur at the par-70 Rambagh Golf Club here on Tuesday.

Seven players are tied for the second spot after shooting a level-par round. This includes Jaipur’s Amanjyot Singh, who is looking to defend his title.

Abhishek Jha, the current No. 1 on the Order of Merit, had a disappointing outing as he could only manage a round of five-over 75.

The scores: Angad Cheema (66); Karan Vasudeva, Karan Taunk, Ajay Singh, S.K. Lakra, Amanjyot Singh, Ashbeer Singh Saini and L. Selvadurai (70); Rashid Khan and Samaresh Sardar (71); Tarun Ghogle, Prince Khajotiya, Sher Mohammd Ali and Divyashu Bajaj (72).

Kabaddi tournament postponed

The Punjab Gold Cup kabaddi tournament scheduled to be held in the last week of March has been postponed.

The Punjab Sports Director, former Indian hockey captain Pargat Singh, has stated that the postponement was owing to the forthcoming general elections.

Fresh dates are expected to be decided when the organising committee meets the next time.
