Host Andhra restricted Assam to 296 and took a first innings lead of 242 runs to qualify for the Elite group in the next season after the match for the Plate group third place in the Cooch-Behar Trophy under-19 cricket tournament ended in a draw at the ACA-VDCA Stadium here on Thursday.

Assam resumed at183 for three and opener Manashjyoti Khagen Gogoi continued his vigil, even as off-spinner Sk. Mohammed Basha was picking up wickets at the other end.

Gogoi (98, 10x4, 411b) was unlucky to miss his century by just two runs.

The Andhra team took it easy in the second innings and was 65 for five when the match ended.

The scores: Andhra 538 and 65 for five in 13 overs (K.S. Bharat 32, A.B. Baruah three for 33) drew with Assam 296 in 148.2 overs (Manashjyoti Khagen Gogoi 98, Roshan Chandan Basfore 30, Sk. Mohammed Basha four for 86, Ch. Sneha Kishore three for 92) .
