BANGALORE: Amit Haval of KLESCET and Sneha Patil of OXCE emerged as the individual champions in the men's and women's sections respectively of the Visweswaraya Technological University's inter-collegiate athletic meet, which concluded at the SJB Institute of Technology grounds here on Saturday.

KLESCET (Belgaum) won the men's team title and RV College of Engineering (Bangalore) bagged the women's team honours.

Basketball tournament

M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology will conduct the M.S. Ramaiah memorial inter-collegiate basketball tournament for men and women at the college courts here from November 20 to 23. Twenty-five colleges are participating in the championship.

Chess tournament

KSP corners glory

KSP emerged champion in the Kodava Cup hockey tournament that concluded here at the BEL Ground on Saturday.

In the final, KSP defeated ASC 2-0. Sundar opened KSP's account in the 12th minute through a penalty corner and later Lakshman Rao scored in 45th minute.

Milagres posts win

Milagres HS, Mangalore posted a 26-15 win over Dr. NSAM High School, Nitte on the opening day of the Association Cup basketball tournament in Mangalore on Saturday. Tilston Pinto (15) was the top-scorer for Milagres.

MPM keeps winning

MPM Youth Handball Club, Bhadravathy won three matches in Pool A of the State sub-junior handball championship at the Hombegowdanagar Sports Complex here on Saturday.

The results: MPM Youth Handball Club bt Vidyaranyapura Sports Club 22-4; MPM Youth Handball Club bt Davangere District 15-1; MPM Youth Handball Club bt Belgaum 11-2.

Ponappa wins title

I.K. Ponappa won the open event of the Kelachandra Cup amateur golf tournament at the KGA Course here on Saturday. Ponappa topped with 77 gross. In the handicap event, Prashanth Hegde topped with a 67 nett. Later in the Ladies' segment, Ashwini Karumbaiah won with a 68 nett while Dr. Navin Shah with a 67 nett, won the veterans' prize.
