: Aditya Gokhale claimed the boys’ under-18 singles title in the Gokuldas Lifestyle AITA championship series tennis tournament on Friday. Saranya Nagpal conceded the girls’ under-18 and under-16 singles finals due to a wrist injury.

Mashooq, Vinay sizzle
Mashooq Hussain (197) and Vinay Sagar’s (135) exploits, allied with Santrupath Chandra’s match haul of 11 wickets, helped St. Joseph’s Indian High School (SJIHS) win the Dell-KSCA Cup u-16 tournament that concluded here recently.
In the final, SJIHS defeated Bishop Cotton Boys School by an innings and 143 runs.
The scores (final) : Bishop Cotton Boys School 256 in 84.4 overs (Nikhil Govind 77, Kanishka 40 n.o., Shashank 38, Rishabh Singh 29, Santrupath Chandra six for 72) and 139 in 39 overs (Rishabh Singh 36, Chirag 32, Santrupath Chandra five for 30) lost to SJIHS 538 in 102.3 overs (Mashooq Hussain 197, Vinay Sagar 135, Adithya Reddy 54, Shiva Shankar 42, Kushal five for 154, Jerrin Joy three for 68).
Vijay Kannan triumphs
At Mysore, second seed from Tamil Nadu and former Davis Cupper Vijay Kannan upset top seed Karnataka lad Suraj R. Prabodh 6-2, 6-2, and clinch the men’s singles title in the 30k AITA men’s tennis tournament for the Raghuveer Cup on Friday. Vijay dominated proceedings right from the beginning and broke Suraj in the second and fourth games to wrap up the first set with ease 6-2. In the second set too, he capitalised on his rival’s unforced errors and went on to win the set and tie 6-2.
