Bangalore: Abhinav Mukund's 126 (286b, 14x4, 1x6) went in vain as South suffered a five-wicket defeat against North in a Col. Hemu Adhikari Memorial Trophy NCA inter-academy tournament match that concluded at the RSI Ground here on Friday.

Abhinav's knock helped South score 333 in its second innings and set a target of 114 for North to chase in 22 overs. However North, despite losing five wickets, scored the winning runs in 20.2 overs to enter the final.

In the final, North will clash with West, which registered a nine-wicket victory over All-India University in another match at the IAF Ground.

The scores: North 446 for six in 129 overs and 115 for five in 20.2 overs bt South 226 in 76 overs and 333 in 126.4 overs (Abhinav Mukund 126, Bharat Reddy 48).

West 432 in 125.2 overs and 155 for one in 35.5 overs (Harshad Kadiwala 77 n.o., A. 48) bt All India University 262 in 73.4 overs and 324 in 100.2 overs (Hari Raj 92).
