CHENNAI: Vijay’s Abhinav Mukund and R. Prasanna, and Indian Bank’s Malolan Rangarajan scored hundreds on the first day of the 10th round matches of the TNCA first division league here on Saturday.

Malolan (113 batting, 207b, 3x6, 10x4) and E. Suresh (92 batting, 233b, 6x4) rescued Indian Bank from a precarious 54 for seven to 247 for seven against Alwarpet at MAC. Their unfinished eighth-wicket partnership of 193 has come in 65.4 overs.

At the Murugappa ground, Abhinav (160, 206b, 20x4, 1x6) and Prasanna (166 batting, 249b, 18x4, 4x6, 1x5) put on 289 in 64.2 overs for the second wicket against Parry’s.

Vijay was on a healthy 403 for two at stumps with N. Einstein (59 batting) giving Prasanna company. Both Abhinav and Prasanna crossed 500 runs for the season during this innings. Useful contributions from V. Subramania Siva (49), Ajay Kudua (74, 178b, 9x4) and S. Badrinath (62 batting, 90b, 6x4) took Jolly Rovers to 252 for six against India Pistons at the CPT-IP ground. Kudua and Badrinath raised 112 for the sixth wicket in 30.2 overs.

Ramesh sizzles

Sadagopan Ramesh’s unbeaten 90 (166b, 11x4) was the highlight of Young Stars’ 268 for five against Aruna at the RKM-Vivekananda ground. Ramesh and S.R. Ganesh Kumar (36 batting) have put on 93 for the sixth wicket so far.

Vikram Mani made a handy 63 (138b, 7x4), while S. Anirudha claimed three wickets.

M. Laksmi Narayanan scored 71 (159b, 10x4) for Southern Railway Institute against UFCC (T. Nagar) at the Southern Railway ground. Kevin Sukumar chipped in with 42, as the host ended the day at 246 for nine. Leg-spinner Shravan Krishnan scalped three.
