Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed, who was removed as assistant coach of the national team for the tour of Zimbabwe, is being tipped as a strong candidate to fill the head coach's post left vacant by the sudden resignation of Waqar Younis.

“The deliberations on who will be the next coach will only begin after the chairman of the board, Ijaz Butt, returns from India this week. But already a strong lobby has started floating Aaqib's name,” one PCB source told pressmen. — PTI
