BANGALORE: “It has been a new and great experience for us” said New Zealand National coach, Tjitt Weistra, on his team’s training stint at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy here. The Kiwis are in town for a short training stint and acclimatisation programme, before they move to Pune for the World junior championship scheduled to start on October 24.
The team, consisting of six boys and five girls, came to Bangalore last Friday, after winding up their engagements in the Commonwealth Youth Games at Pune.
“It has been highly beneficial to us and I wish we had this sort of academy back home,” Weistra said. The coach also commended the professionalism of coaches and players at the PPBA.
“Unlike our players, who are sort of laidback, I find the Indian youngsters very hard working and disciplined and inputs of legends like Prakash Padukone and coaches Vimal Kumar and Tom John are certainly helping our cause,” said Weistra.— Special Correspondent
