President Abdul Kalam deserves praise for flying in a Sukhoi-30 MKI, thereby becoming the first commander-in-chief of the armed forces to do so.
He has already created a record by travelling in a submarine. True to his vision and forethought, he stands as an excellent role model for the youth of today.
The cartoon on the subject (Cartoonscape, June 10) is excellent. Travelling in a crowded bus or taking an evening walk along a busy road will indeed become an adventurous sport one day. Driving an Arjun Tank on a sand dune will probably be the next venture of our supreme commander.
The cartoon was apt. Tearing down crowded Chennai streets in the outer space of a bus is far more adventurous than a sortie in the cool "comforts" of a Sukhoi-30 MKI.
It is not unusual to see many a 70-plus man travel in this manner every day.
