Anil Kumble’s retirement from international Test cricket was as unexpected and surprising as his googlies. His contribution to making cricket a gentleman’s game will be hailed by all cricket fans. The manner in which he faced criticism and overcame physical injuries speaks volumes about his determination, passion and love for cricket. His conduct on and off the field is worthy of emulation.
Devendra L. Abbigeri,
Kumble retired at the peak of his career, setting an example for others. His exit from Team India has created a big vacuum. His long innings with the ball ended when nobody expected it.
Kumble’s record of 619 wickets is no mean achievement. On a turning wicket, he was unplayable and troubled even the best batsmen.
The champion leg-spinner has left a tremendous impression in the minds of the people. He has been one of the most stable and reliable cricketers.
This time too, he took the right decision at the right time and retired with all the glory.
Uma R. Varma,
Cricket is, no doubt, a game of glorious uncertainties. Nobody would have thought that our ace spinner would end his career so abruptly. Kumble was a gentleman cricketer and totally committed. No other captain would have handled the Sydney fiasco better. We wish him a peaceful retired life.
