>>The reference in the Editorial, “Outrage in Bhandara,” (Feb. 28, 2013), to the victims as Dalits was erroneous. The family belongs to the Kunbi caste, which comes in the other backward classes category. Also, the school teacher was not arrested by the police. They questioned her, and the district authorities suspended her from service.

>>The report, “CCEA to take up IKEA’s FDI proposal” (Feb. 27, 2013, Business, some editions), erroneously referred to IKEA as a Swiss company. Actually it is a Swedish company.

>>The story, “Delhi Police claim of 'IM recce' raises questions” (Feb. 22, 2013), wrongly conveyed the impression that the details of the July 2012 recce of Dilsukhnagar by two alleged members of Indian Mujahideen were only disclosed by the Delhi police after the Hyderabad blast took place. In fact, the details had already been shared with the Hyderabad police at the time of their arrest in October 2012, were made public earlier, and form part of court filings made in the case against the two. The same story also said “police claims about Islamist groups being behind various bomb blasts in Hyderabad eventually [turned] out to be incorrect.” This was the case in only one Hyderabad incident, the 2007 bombing at the Mecca Masjid.
