A PTI item “Three-year jail for Sukhram” (“Briefly”, February 26, 2009, page 1) said that a Delhi court has ordered the forfeiture of Rs.4.25 crore amassed by former Communications Minister Sukhram. Another report, “Court orders forfeiture of Sukhram’s assets” (Inside pages, February 26, 2009), gave the figure as Rs. 4.35 crore. The Central Bureau of Investigation has given the figure as Rs.4.35 crore.
A report “DMK legislator quits Assembly, party” (February 26, 2009, page 1) said that Mr. Rajakannappan, who was a member of the AIADMK Ministry during 1991-96, resigned from the party after its defeat in the 2006 Assembly elections. It should have been 1996.
A report on the National handball championship “Punjab shocks Services” (“Sport”, February 26, 2009) said that Karnataka had entered the last four. It was Delhi that made it to the semi-finals.
The eleventh paragraph of a tennis report, on the ATP Dubai Open, “Murray holds on to beat injured Stakhovsky” (“Sport”, February 25, 2009) said that in the final set the Scot who won eight of the first nine points and games went comfortably with serve until Stakhovsky, who had injured his ankle late in the first set, retired. Murray had a break in the third set to lead 5-3.
