“The Telugu Desam and its ‘Maha kootani’ had made corruption a major plank of its poll campaign,” was a sentence in the second paragraph of “Balanced team of loyalists” (Editorial, May 27, 2009). The term is “Maha kootami”. A report “Lapang wins trust vote” (May 26, 2009) said that incumbent Bindo M. Lanong quit the chair to become the Deputy Chief Minister after his United Democractic Party (UDP) decided to join the Congress-led coalition, while another report “New coalition takes over in Meghalaya” (May 14, 2009) said Dr. Mukul Sangma was sworn in Deputy Chief Minister. The Correspondent clarifies that both reports are correct as Meghalaya has two Deputy Chief Ministers — Dr. Mukul Sangma from the Congress party and Mr. Bindo M. Lanong. A golf report on the Malaysian amateur Open golf tournament, “Rashid ends up third” (“Sport”, May 25, 2009), should have said that Taiwan’s Pei-Ying Tsai returned with a two-over 74 for a three-day total of five-over 221 to win the title and not 271 as reported by PTI. The results column in a football report “Osasuna dampens Barcelona’s party; Forlan becomes top scorer” (“Sport”, May 25, 2009) incorrectly said that Athletic Bilbao 1 (Etxeita 68) drew with Atletico Madrid 4 (Raul Garcia 59, Forlan 73, 78, 87-pen). It lost 1-4 to Atletico Madrid.
