The Mumbai police have done a superb job of piling up clinching evidence against the perpetrators of the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai, which clearly points to the fact that it was planned in Pakistan and masterminded by the Lashkar-e-Taiba (“Beyond the charge sheet,” Feb. 27). The police who caught Ajmal Amir Iman ‘Kasab’ alive and the FBI which helped in the investigation also deserve our approbation.

Given the size of the crime, it may take years for India and Pakistan to bring the criminals to book. It is for Islamabad to seize the opportunity and make earnest efforts to absolve itself of the charge that it is soft on terrorism emanating from its soil.

Expecting Pakistan to bring to book the 35 accused in the charge sheet is a day dream for a trial there will be of no avail.

We must pressure Pakistan to hand them over to us. It is also important to check the growth of the Indian Mujahideen and other such outfits on our soil.
