The report "Doors wide open for talks, says Colombo" ("International" page, December 9, 2006) stated that the "Heroes Day" speech of LTTE chief Vellupillai Prabhakaran was on September 27. It was an error and should have been November 27 (The LTTE observes the Heroes day event annually on November 27, to coincide with the LTTE leader's birthday.)

In the report "Call for zero HIV infections by 2007" (December 8, 2006), the expansion of PLH is People Living with HIV/AIDS.

In The Hindu Crossword 8780 ("Variety" page, December 9, 2006), clue "Across 10" was "African country the capital of which is Lagos (7)." The solution is Nigeria ("Variety" page, December 11, 2006). However, Lagos is the former capital city of Nigeria; it has since been replaced by Abuja. Abuja city officially gained its status as capital city on December 12, 1991; although Lagos was stripped of this title much earlier, it acted as de facto capital until around 1991. The clue should have been "African country the capital of which was Lagos."
