This refers to the editorial “Total vindication” (Dec. 22). By restoring the working visa of Mohammed Haneef, the Indian doctor charged with recklessly supporting terrorism, the independent and impartial Australian judiciary has acted in a commendable manner. The announcement by the new Immigration and Citizenship Minister, Chris Evans, that the doctor is free to return to Australia and take up employment has further enhanced the country’s image.
It is really a battle won hard for Dr. Haneef. The Australian judiciary has set a fine example by delivering a fair verdict.
