The YSR Congress party has asked its cadre to stay away from the New Year celebrations.
Protest Jagan's arrest
It was in protest against what the party leaders called the undemocratic arrest of its chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and urged them to intensify the signature campaign in support of his release.
“In the wake of the undemocratic arrest Jaganmohan Reddy and the political vendetta of vested interests in filing multiple charge-sheets and using the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a tool to settle political scores, the cadre should keep away from the celebrations and intensify the one crore signature campaign,” party leaders, Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy, D.A Somayajulu, Bajireddy Goverdhan and Janak Prasad told reporters here on Sunday.
They said keeping away from celebrations is a mark of protest at the way the Congress and the TDP have come together to keep the YSR Congress chief away from people.
Though, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was the 52nd accused, CBI has shown him as the first accused and did not care to arrest those persons who actually signed the GOs, they added.
The State government’s behaviour was Quixotic considering the fact that it had argued before the Supreme Court that the 26 GOs were legal.
