‘Work on Andhra Bhavan near Sabarimala soon’

The Andhra Pradesh government will take steps to start the construction work on the proposed Andhra Bhavan at the pilgrims’ base camp at Nilackal soon, N. Vidyasagar, Deputy Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council has said. He was speaking to reporters at Sabarimala during his pilgrimage to the Ayyappa temple on Monday. He said the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) had already allotted five acres of land at Nilackal for constructing the proposed Andhra Bhavan. Mr. Vidyasagar said he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister as soon as he returned to Hyderabad and, if needed, the TDB authorities would be invited to hold talks on the work.

He was all praise for the ‘Punyam Poonkavanom’ scheme launched by the Kerala Police at Sabarimala with a mission to keep ‘Sannidhanam’ clean. As part of the project, the devotees and the staff on duty carry out an cleaning drive at the Lower Tirumuttom of the temple everyday. Mr. Vidyasagar too participated in it.
