The body of a woman who was missing since October 9 was found in a canal near Madlapura village in Channarayapatna taluk on Friday. She was identified as Suma.

Her family filed a complaint with the police alleging that Suma was murdered by her husband and in-laws.

Suma, a native of Gejjagaranahalli in Channarayapatna taluk, married Krishne Gowda of the same village two months ago.

According to the complaint, her parents paid Krishne Gowda a dowry of Rs. 1 lakh in cash and 130 gm of gold. The complaint said that she was harassed by her husband and in-laws for more money. Her parents alleged that her husband and in-laws killed her and threw the body into the canal.

The Channarayapatna Rural police have registered a case. No arrests have been made.
