A 34-year-old woman has alleged that she was raped for nine years and pushed into the flesh trade by her uncle and cousin. The D.B. Marg police have registered a case under Sections 376, 342, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code against Satish Kondekar (45) and Rakesh Kadav (35).
They have also booked the duo under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
Police officials at D.B. Marg said on Saturday that the victim, who lived on Grant Road, approached the police on Friday evening, alleging that she was raped between 2001 and 2009 at her residence by the duo.
“All of them used to stay together in a room on Grant Road, along with the complainant’s grandmother and aunt. She got married in 2009 and went to stay at her husband’s place. But a few days ago, she returned to this room after some dispute with her husband.
On Friday, she complained to us, saying she was raising the matter since she could not take the agony any more,” Senior Police Inspector, D.B. Marg police station, Ajit Surve told The Hindu .
She has said in her complaint that the duo sent her to Karnataka and Gujarat for flesh trade between 2001 and 2009. “She said they took away the money she received thereafter,” he said.
Police officials said there was a long dispute in the family about the property and ownership of the room. “A few days ago, Satish gave the single room on rent and assured the rest that he will pay them. But he failed to do so,” Mr. Surve said.
The police presented the victim before the special Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act court on Friday, which remanded her to a protection home.
No arrests have been made in the case as yet. The medical examination of the victim is awaited.
