Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Ananth Kumar on Friday said the party had decided not to allow Parliament to function till either Joint Parliamentary Committee chairman P.C. Chacko resigned or was relieved from his post by Speaker Meira Kumar.
He was talking to presspersons at the helipad in the District Armed Reserve Police Ground here.
The BJP leader said it was unfortunate that the JPC hadnamed the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and BJP leaders Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie, while exonerating Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, who, A. Raja has alleged, were party to all the decisions taken regarding the allotment of 2G spectrum.
Both Mr. Singh and Mr. Sinha were ready to depose before the JPC and present their stand, Mr. Kumar said, but wondered “why the JPC chairman was not interested in hearing them.”
Dr. Manmohan Singh, he pointed out, had agreed to depose before the JPC and wanted to know why Mr. Chacko did not do so.
