A Division Bench of AP High Court comprising of Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta and Justice K.C. Bhanu on Monday expressed surprise at the APSRTC collecting higher charges in the name of running special buses during festival seasons. The Bench directed the APSRTC to file counter affidavit stating that it was a public utility service and not an entrepreneur.
The writ petition was filed by Rama Raju who complained that RTC was charging higher fares in violation of rules. The counsel for APSRTC told the court that government had permitted such an action. The Bench posted the matter to next week.
