“Demonstration will protest attack on democracy in the State”
The Left Front will organise a sit-in in New Delhi on December 18 against “the attack on democracy in the State,” said West Bengal Left Front Committee Chairman Biman Bose here on Monday.
There will also be a similar demonstration here on November 29 in protest against the alleged subversion of democracy and of democratic rights, he said.
Alleging that people were being prevented from exercising their democratic rights in West Bengal, he said, “The demonstration will also be a protest against rise in prices of essential commodities and anarchy in the education sector.”
The Left Front will also organise an anti-communalism convention in the city, the date of which will be announced later, said Mr. Bose, who is also a Polit Bureau member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
This programme is significant in the backdrop of the “Convention for People’s Unity Against Communalism,” organised by the CPI(M) in New Delhi last month, where 14 parties — excluding the Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party — came together.
