Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh on Sunday said that the action in the case of the cash-strapped Kingfisher airlines will depend on the kind of response that the carrier will give to the show cause notice served by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for cancellation/suspension of its licence.

The DGCA asked Kingfisher to submit a concrete plan on how it intended to clear debt and resume operations.

“It cannot just say that funds will come from here and there,” Mr. Singh told journalists on the sidelines of the launch of Telangana unit of Rashtriya Lok Dal headed by him. Kingfisher also has to satisfy the DGCA about maintaining safety norms as it involved operating the fleet after a long gap. Mr. Singh sympathised with the crew and employees of Kingfisher for working without salaries for the past seven months hoping that the airline would be revived.
