Members of the All College Students’ Association staged a protest here on Saturday against the Visvesvarya Technological University’s new carry over system.

Gathering in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the association claimed that thousands of students would be affected by the new rules which state that admission into the third year of college would be given only if the student cleared all 32 subjects in the previous two years, and similarly students have to clear 16 subjects in the third year for entry into the fourth year of their technical course. The association said this would jeopardise the careers of thousands of students as the dates for supplementary examinations would coincide with the dates of the examinations of the semesters they were currently in.
