Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has said that he will not attend the Kanjikode railway coach factory's foundation laying ceremony at Palakkad on Tuesday.
Accusing the Central and State governments of having failed to invite him with some sense of decency, Mr. Achuthanandan, who also represents the Malampuzha constituency, where the factory is to be located, said on Monday that the only person to invite him was a Railway official.
He also accused the Central and State governments of having cut the size of the project drastically, its outlay coming down from Rs.5,000 crore to Rs.500 crore.
The size of the project area was also getting curtailed, Mr. Achuthanandan said.
Railways deny charge
However, Southern Railway claimed that Mr. Achuthanandan was invited by the Public Relations Officer of the Railways.
