The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has streamlined the VIP darshan system to facilitate pilgrims with Rs. 500 ticket to have darshan from the Sayana Mandapam, TTD Trustee N. Kannaiah said here on Tuesday. The earlier practice was to categorise VIP darshan under three groups – L1, L2 and L3. While select pilgrims under the L1 and L2 category were allowed to have darshan of the deity from close proximity (Sayana Mandapam), those under L3 were permitted only up to Durbar Mandapam that was at least 15 feet away.
“I raised the issue with the TTD Board and insisted that all pilgrims with Rs. 500 (VIP darshan ticket) be treated equally and given access up to Sayana Mandapam. With effect from Friday (November 30), pilgrims categorised under L3 are also being allowed to have darshan from Sayana Mandapam,” he said.
Dr. Kannaiah said the quality of Tirupati laddu would be improved further by way of adding more cashew and badam. In an attempt to mitigate the hardship of pilgrims waiting in long queues, the TTD authorities would provide ‘kichadi’ and milk at Vaikuntam complex in the morning hours.
