Telangana United Front co-chairperson and balladeer Vimalakka has clarified that she will not contest by-elections from the Parkal Assembly segment in Warangal district.

Refuting the reports that she was planning to contest by-elections from Parkal, she said that the TUF had not taken any decision about contesting polls. “Contesting elections is not my agenda. My agenda is to fight for the cause of people and other public issues,” she pointed out. Talking to newsmen here on Monday, she said that all the Telangana protagonists should boycott the polls till the formation of separate Telangana state. “The general elections and by-elections will not achieve separate Telangana state,” she reiterated.

Political crisis

The political parties should create political crisis by not contesting elections, she said and added that the Telangana would be reality only through agitations.

“All the political parties have raised the Telangana statehood issue in 2004 and 2009 elections. Even the subsequent by-elections have also proved the prevalence of Telangana sentiment. But, no political parties had strived for the formation of separate state or instil confidence among the people. Besides, the parties had failed to stop suicides by the youth in Telangana,” she maintained. She called upon all the political parties of the region to boycott the elections till the formation of separate Telangana.
