Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader M. Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday slammed the Congress and alleged that the talk of secularism by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was only intended to cover up its failure of governance and corruption.

Referring to Dr. Singh’s comments that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was secular, Mr. Naidu said the Congress raked up the debate only to cover its failures and charges of corruption against its leaders.

“Why doesn’t the Prime Minister talk about development, the nation’s growth rate and about bringing back black money ?” the BJP leader asked, adding that Dr. Singh was not ready to talk about those issues because of his own failures.

On the Prime Minister's comments that people knew what Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi stood for, he said Mr. Modi stood for dynamism, decisiveness and development, that were sadly lacking in the UPA Government.

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu wondered how the talk of a third front of ‘federal front’ could become a reality when the constituent parties did not see eye-to-eye in their respective States, quoting as examples the case of the Telugu Desam, YSR Congress and TRS in AP, the DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu and the Left parties and Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
