The UPA government was tottering and the BJP was emerging as “people’s choice” ahead of Lok Sabha polls, BJP leader Gadkari said here on Tuesday.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a day-long meeting of the Maharashtra unit of the party.

Mr. Gadkari likened the UPA to a lame duck government that was languishing in the ‘intensive care unit’ of a hospital. “All its constituents are gradually deserting it…it is expected to collapse anytime,” he said.

A rash of scams had erupted during the tenure of the UPA-II government. A staggering Rs.22 lakh crore black money, stashed away in foreign bank accounts, were yet to be recovered.

Newly-elected Maharashtra BJP unit president Devendra Fadnavis also spoke.
