Unreleased 40-year-old film to hit theatres

Late actor-director Joy Mukherjee’s unreleased film Love in Bombay will finally see the light of day on August 2, forty years after its production in 1973. The Love in… series started with Joy’s debut film, the blockbuster hit Love in Simla, in 1960 and was followed by the golden jubilee hit Love in Tokyo in 1966. Love in Bombay stars Waheeda Rehman, Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Rehman among others. Music was composed by Shankar-Jaikishan and lyrics were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. The film’s negative was found by Joy’s children Sujoy Mukerji, Monjoy Mukerji and Simran Halwasiya in Fazal Bhoy cold storage at Worli. They got it digitally restored. Joy died on March 9, 2012 at the age of 73. — PTI
