Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych on Wednesday said that Ukrainian companies would take part in tenders in the Indian energy sector for providing equipment and other services.

Speaking at a business meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries here, Mr. Yanukovych said that companies in his country were also interested in building metallurgy facilities in India by leveraging their experience in integrated design.

Mr. Yanukovych, who is on a State visit to India, said that Ukraine was keen on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector. He said, “Ukrainian companies have resources to provide Indian nuclear power plants and hydro power plants with equipment as well as help to modernise the existing energy facilities.”

Mr. Yanukovych said that the two countries should focus more on energy, space research, aircraft ship building, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy and tourism.

Accompanied by a business delegation from his country, Mr. Yanukovych said that the two countries should increase the mutual business by at least two folds.

In his introductory address, Satish Reddy, Managing Director and COO, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, urged the governments and industries in the two countries to avail themselves of the opportunities in bilateral trade, investment and collaboration.
