The University Grants Commission (UGC) panel inspected the Rayalaseema University here on Friday to grant recognition under the 12 B of the Act. The four-member panel comprising C. Thangamuthu, K.K. Bhasin, Nishi Pande and member secretary G. Srinivas interacted with Vice-Chancellor, faculty and students.
The recognition under 12-B facilitates the UGC to directly fund the university infrastructure and support the research programmes. Vice-Chancellor Krishna Naik explained to the visiting team the facilities available on the campus, the infrastructure and the courses being run by the University.
He explained that the university was catering to the educational needs of the most backward area and needed support from the central panel. Also, there was scope for research in multiple areas.
Principal NTK Naik, Registrar S.V. Pulla Reddy and senior members of the faculty were present at the interaction. The members of Old Students Association also met the panel.
