Two wagons of a goods train headed for Chalakkudy in Kerala derailed between Korukkupet and Vyasarpadi stations on Thursday.

A railway official said it was the ninth and sixteenth wagons of the train that got derailed. However, the derailment did not affect the running of other trains, he said. Earlier, in June, a railway pointsman was killed after he came under the wheels of a goods train which derailed at Korukkupet.
