The investigation into the Sierra Leone-flagged vessel, detained by the Coast Guard here on Saturday, has been handed over to the Tuticorin Marine Police. Superintendent of Police M. Durai said on Sunday that the 10-member crew and 25 armed guards on board the vessel, Seaman Guard Ohio, were safe. The vessel belongs to AdvanFort, a U.S.-based firm that provides maritime security.

Mr. Durai told The Hindu that investigation was going on with the captain, the chief engineer and key crew members.
