The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has taken up with Telangana joint action committee (JAC) postponement of the latter’s general body meeting scheduled here on Saturday in a bid to resolve their differences.

The party MLA K.T. Rama Rao called up JAC chairman M. Kodandaram over phone on Thursday evening and requested him to put off the meeting by two or three days so that both sides could meet and thrash out the issues and pave way for the representation of the party in the meeting. Sources said Mr. Rao also briefed Mr. Kodandaram about the deliberations at the party meetings in Karimnagar on Wednesday and Thursday where it was decided to work cohesively with all organisations struggling for separate Telangana.

A JAC leader said no decision was taken yet to postpone the meeting but the organisation was not averse to the idea.

Earlier, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao had stated in his press conference at Karimnagar that he would invite JAC leaders for discussions as soon as he reached Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, BJP general secretary N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday condemned the remarks of the TRS president for dubbing the BJP a “communal party”.

Asking Mr. Rao to stop defaming BJP, he wondered whether the TRS leader was not aware of it when BJP’s support was sought during MLC elections in the past. He questioned whether Mr. Rao forgot that he had attended a BJP-NDA rally at Ludhiana during 2009 elections.

Observing that the Congress-led regime would not grant Telangana State, he referred to the offer Mr. Rao claimed to have made to the Congress to merge TRS with the former and said it was tantamount to backstabbing the people of Telangana.
