Young World painting contest on Sunday

The 20th Young World Painting Competition will be held at the Jubilee Hall on St. Joseph's College campus here on November 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The competition is being organized for students studying in classes IV to VII (Juniors) and classes VIII to X (Seniors).

As many as 1,645 and 999 entries in Junior and Senior categories respectively were received for the preliminary round. Of this, 200 entries in each category were selected for the finals. The call letters for the finalists have already been sent to their schools. They should bring the call letters and report at the venue at 8.15 a.m. They should bring the drawing materials while the sheet will be provided at the venue. The topics will be announced on the spot for both the categories.

Cash awards of Rs.5,000, Rs.3,000 and Rs.2,000 will be given to those who bag the first, second and third places respectively under the Senior category. At the Junior level, the cash prize would be Rs.3000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000 for the first, second and third places respectively.

There will be seven consolation prizes for each category which carries an award of Rs.500 each. The prizes would be distributed at 1 p.m by K. Ramakrishnan, Chairman, K. Ramakrishnan College of Engineering, Samayapuram, Tiruchi.

The title sponsor for the contest is MIOT Hospitals and the national sponsor is Amrutanjan Relief Cough & Cold. Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering & Technology, Coimbatore, is a regional sponsor. The snacks are sponsored by Sree Sweets and water is sponsored by ARC Aqua Puraa.
