Five young entrepreneurs of Madurai are among a team of 25 Young Indians, an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which will participate in the G 20 Young Entrepreneur Summit to be held in Mexico City from June 2 to 5.
M. Raghuram, chairman, YI, Madurai chapter, K. Nagaraj, immediate past chairman, Pramod Joseph, K. Hari Thiagarajan and Rukmini Thiagarajan will join 20 others from all over India at the summit to discuss major social and economic issues of the world.
The focus of discussion, according to Mr. Raghuram, will be entrepreneurship and taxation issues, along with issues that affect the environment. The summit will also discuss future projects presented by the young entrepreneurs.
He said that Madurai was getting a big representation in the youth team representing the country for the first time and this would help in focussing the strengths of the ancient city in an international arena.
Mr. Nagaraj, who represented Young Indians in last year's summit held in Nice, France, felt that such meetings provided an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to gain global exposure.
Forty points discussed at the Nice summit on access to finance, education and skilling, entrepreneurial culture and taxation and regulation had been submitted as a document to be presented to G 20 political leaders through corporate captains.
This document which would be submitted, Mr. Nagaraj said, had been passed on as reference material to the Planning Commission by the Union Government.
The theme of the Mexico City summit is “Young entrepreneurs: building dynamic businesses that foster growth and job creation.”
