With the model code of conduct for Yercaud by-election in force, Corporation workers removed flag-posts of political parties and trade unions in the city on Sunday.

Workers removed posters, banners, flags, signs, graffiti and other publicity materials of the political parties at many places in the city. Workers also removed flags and banners put up on lamp posts and in other public places.

Officials said that with the model code of conduct in force from Friday evening, no political party is allowed to use public space for pasting publicity materials as it violate the code.

They added that the drive would continue across the city in the next few days until all such materials were removed.

District Collector K. Maharabushanam, who is also the Election Officer, has already asked the government officials to comply with the code or face action.

Special camp

Special camp for addition in electoral rolls, deletion, and change of address was conducted across the district on Sunday . First-time voters thronged the polling booths to enrol their names.
