“Shared Waters – Shared Opportunities” will be the theme for this year

Special focus will be on transboundary waters

Handbills on need to conserve water to be distributed

MADURAI: “Shared Waters – Shared Opportunities” will be the theme for the World Water Day this year that falls on Sunday. The special focus would be on transboundary waters.

The Communication and Capacity Development Unit of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board has urged everyone to take a pledge on Sunday for saving drinking water, protecting water resources and harvesting rainwater for the benefit of the future generations.

In a statement, its Assistant Executive Engineer, K. Syed Sulaiman, said that his unit would distribute hand bills on the need to conserve drinking water and quality issues to the public at various places in the city.

Stating that future would be filled with conflicts owing to limited water resources, the theme of “shared waters – shared opportunities” would focus on cooperation, not conflict, as common response to transboundary water management issues.
