World Drama Day was observed under the aegis of the Public Awareness Association of Udhagamandalam at the SRVS School here on Thursday.

Malaicharal Tamil Poets Association president Sholur Ganesan said that the dramas staged in the past conveyed messages that had a wide reach.

School Correspondent Anita Hari presided over the function.

Association president G. Janardhanan said that awareness should be created about the significant contribution of the great English poet and playwright William Shakespeare.

J. Balakrishnan, poet, and Ketti Nanjan, a former headmaster, spoke.

Students staged a Tamil drama on the occasion.

Sundhari Raju, school principal, proposed a vote of thanks.
