The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India organised a workshop on Tax Deduction at Source and Tax Collection at Source here on Tuesday.
E. Sankaran, Commissioner of Income Tax, (TDS) Chennai, chief guest, said a target of Rs. 30,000 crore tax collection had been set for Tamil Nadu in the current year.
A sum of Rs. 6,000 crore had been collected through tax deduction at source in the first quarter.
Refund of tax should be checked or verified on 26 AS form promptly before filing the return of income. He also added that errors, if any, on the filing of returns would be rectified.
Since the income tax offices had been computerised, mismatch of any credit would be detected, he added.
