A three-day sensitisation workshop on Integrated Watershed Management for senior-level officers organised by the Central Soil and Water Conservation Research and Training Institute (CSWCRTI) concluded at Rees Corner, near here, on Wednesday.

Delivering the valedictory address, the Project Director, Hill Area Development Programme, Srinivas R. Reddy, said that such workshops for senior-level officers organised periodically by the Government of India facilitates better planning and utilisation of funds. The networking among colleagues, planners, trainers and the funding agencies minimises problems.

He urged the participants to ensure that the proposals for watershed development schemes reach the implementing agencies during the early part of the fiscal so that they are executed in an efficient manner and quality is not compromised.

Ways should be evolved to maintain the assets properly, he added.

The head, CSWCRTI, O.P.S. Khola, who presided, said that while putting in place training modules for watershed development, climate change is given a great deal of importance. Senior scientist and course coordinator S. Manivannan welcomed the gathering.
