Department of Microbiolog y at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research will conduct a five-day national workshop on diagnostic methods in clinical microbiology from Tuesday, a release said.
The workshop is being sponsored by the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, and is the 10th in the series of workshops conducted by the department. There would be 25 delegates from 11 States participating.
Delegates would be given hands-on training to candidates in techniques that can be adapted in low resource settings. Training would include tests for infectious diseases such as malaria, diarrhoea, tuberculosis and amoebiasis. Participants would also gain experience in newer diagnostic tests such as PCR, the release said.
Most of the tests that are included in the workshop could be carried out even in low resource settings, the release said.
